Elektra GmbH with headquarters in South Tyrol was founded in 1978 by Egon Reinstadler. From the very beginning, the focus was on the development of high-quality DC/DC converters with powers up to 500 watts, which were innovative on the one hand and pushed the limits of what was technically possible on the other.
The first developments and productions were made with conventional PCB boards. However, when low-wage competition from the Far East emerged, Reinstadler changed his approach and from then on produced hybrid constructions on ceramic boards.
Through close cooperation with the development departments of many internationally active companies in the electronics industry, over the decades Elektra has been able to build up an international reputation. Long-term cooperation was sought in the following areas: industrial controls, automation, vehicles, trains and electronics for military use. The company is managed in the second generation by Wilhelm Reinstadler, who places a special focus on the development of innovative technologies of the highest quality.
